Difficulty is a complex thing to balance in a word game. Is it hard because the main game mechanic is hard (word guessing, word matching, etc.)? Or is it difficult because of the scope of the game itself?

Nevertheless, it’s a subjective matter, and there is no one true fact that applies to everyone. Group consensus, however, can make a generally encompassing answer.

A lot of word game enthusiasts say Semantle is one of the hardest games they’ve played. And there are reports that sometimes, the daily word isn’t even solved by anyone. Is it hard for you as well?

“It’s so weird. It’s so hard. It’s, like, beyond anything that you think people should be able to do,” says David Turner, creator of Semantle.

Canuckle is another famous, but as fans say, harder version of Wordle®. Is it because it’s Canada-centric? Do Canadians find it easier than other players? Let us know!

Rowling does play it, but she only announced that she can beat her own high score. While in Minesweeper, she reached 101 seconds in solving time for the highest difficulty during her journey to quit smoking.

For reference, the average player’s solve time for that difficulty level is around 110+ seconds.
