Happy All Saints Day!

We hope you have a great All Saints Day, Catholic friends!

November is officially here, and we greet all our Catholic gamer friends with a blessed All Saints Day! Most people take this time to take a break and celebrate with friends and loved ones, and it is the ideal time to gather around and share a great game together!

Two of the most prominent holidays this month are all about the commemoration of life and death. We think The Game of Life is a great way to bond while also creatively connoting the fleeting dream that is the human lifespan.

Are you traveling to your relatives and don’t have anything to listen to while en route? No worries, we have a new podcast episode out for you!

Five game insights we think will pique your interest!

First

You won’t believe us when we say that there’s basically a Catholic Dungeons & Dragons. No, really! Even kids can play it! However, just like a good DnD game, this game requires a good GM. If you’re looking for a unique experience that fits the holiday, Road to Bethlehem is the board game you’re looking for.

Are you spending the holiday alone but still want to play something fitting for the moment? Well, if you’re into shooting, destroying demons and bringing righteous fury to evil, look no further—DOOM Eternal is your game. While technically the Doom Slayer isn’t doing it for Catholicism, he’s still fighting evil and protecting the weak, so there’s that.

Interestingly, even a pastor has reacted to its gameplay.

We’ve tackled so many Wordle clones in our newsletter issues and podcast episodes, that there’s probably a version for every topic and subject under the sun, and you’ve probably guessed it—there’s a Catholic Wordle. But don’t play it during mass or anything like that!

Looking for a Catholic web game you can confidently recommend to every age? We’ve got you. Wanderlight: A Pilgrim’s Journey. Well-made and easy to understand, there’s even a demo you can try out for yourself!

These holidays are as fleeting as the lives we commemorate, so treasure these moments with your friends and loved ones. These end-of-the-year holidays are always a bitter mix of solemnity and merriment, and games can help make the time spent both meaningful and enjoyable.

And to that, we have a rather peculiar quote from Stephen Hawking, an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist and prominent scientific figure:

“Not only does God play dice, but... He sometimes throws them where they cannot be seen.”

Happy All Saints Day to everyone! May the saints bless you and fill your days with peace, grace and love for one another. We’re always updating our podcasts and blogs, so be sure to check them out whenever you can!
