Playing Stardew Valley on a coffee table

Yep. You can now play multiplayer Stardew Valley with your friends without any devices!

It’s not every day you find a game like Stardew Valley— farming, romance, action and crafting… it basically has something for everyone!

While it’s true that there are many cozy farm sims like it, with Rune Factory and Harvest Moon being its spiritual predecessors, there’s just something very special about it that made it a massive hit for new and old player bases alike.

And now, it has a tabletop version you can play with friends and family!

We’ve also recently interviewed its creator, so if you’re interested in how it became possible to condense such a rich game into a board game format, check out our latest podcast!

Five game insights we think will pique your interest!

First

It’s embarrassing to admit, but we knew less than we thought about plants after taking this quick plant quiz game! These types of quiz games are now becoming a lot more popular with everyone due to their sharing and leaderboard features.

Try out the quiz yourself and see how good is your plant knowledge!

On the note of plants, there’s another plant game we think everybody knows to some degree. Of course, we’re talking about Plants vs. Zombies—a game where you hold off a horde of the undead trying to eat your brain with cute plants! We remember playing it a lot back when it first came out, but there is some fun trivia about it that even we didn’t know about.

Did you know it was supposed to be called “Lawn of the Dead”?

Looking for more board games that cater to a green thumb or just enjoy playing something about plants? Then we’ve got you covered! Here’s Planted: A Game of Nature & Nurture. It differs quite a bit from Stardew Valley: The Board Game as this tabletop game focuses solely on plants. But rest assured, learning it is as easy as pie!

Done with Stardew Valley but still want to scratch that cozy, rural-living game itch? Then we’ll recommend a trip to the Mediterranean world of Alba: A Wildlife Adventure! It’s a big jump from the pixel-style graphics of Stardew Valley, but we’re sure you’ll find it just as charming and relaxing.

Who knew that simulating rural life through a game would be such a hit? It seems that no matter how modern the world becomes, everyone still wants to feel that connection to nature and live off the land, even if it’s through a video game simulation.

With the hustle and bustle of current society, everyone seems to be constantly chasing something. But with the help of games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and many other cozy sim-type titles, we can enjoy a long moment of respite and enjoyment through a well-crafted world.

And to that, we relate this quote from Michael Jordan, NBA legend and world-renowned athlete:

“Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.”
