Want more games that are about eating? Then Pac-Man is definitely something you should check out. Sure, this classic game is very simplistic compared to modern games, but there’s just something therapeutic about steering a half-circle guy around a map to eat dots and ghosts. Is the old map too big for you? Don’t worry, there’s a single dimension version that can help you scratch that Pac-Man itch.

Speaking of retro games like Pac-Man, there were a lot of very well-known games that were released alongside it for the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES. Super Mario Brothers and Pac-Man are shoo-ins of course, but did you ever beat Gyromite? You know, that one where you guide an old man through obstacles? Well, surprising as it is to hear, a dog named Peanut Butter managed to beat it. Yes, a dog beat an NES game.

Gaming has come such a long way that we sometimes forget the pioneers and visionaries who paved the way for the games we’ve played and loved. Arcades were one of the most energy-packed places you could find anywhere. Why wouldn’t it be? It had the food, the sounds, the space, the local groups and all the games every gamer needed back then! While the era of arcades is now long gone, they have made their mark on history, and we aren’t alone in feeling that nostalgia, as Eugene Jarvis, American game designer and programmer, also felt the need to say:

“To me, the arcade experience is the ultimate gaming experience.”
