Welcome to the first edition

Welcome to the first edition of Game On!

Hundreds of thousands of people play our games every month. And every week we come across interesting articles, tips, videos, books, and interviews we want to share with you.

Here’s one weird stat: Did you know 70% of high-level executives (like CEOs and CFOs) play casual games?

Games aren’t just for kids.

We not only care how casual games can help you become smarter and become more productive throughout your day, but the positive impact they can make on your mental health and well-being.

Each Friday, we’ll bring you five of our best finds around the games you love to play. We’ll also keep you up-to-date with new features or games that we decide to build.

We have a lot of exciting plans coming in the future. But for today, enjoy this week’s Game On! newsletter.

Five game insights we think will pique your interest!

First

Did you know that the creation of Sudoku was influenced by Western origins? While it has a Japanese name, Maki Kaji, the one who polished the game, created his version of the puzzle game he saw after seeing it in an American magazine while on his way home from a horse-racing track.

Remember that old game where you guide rats to their rocket ship? If you owned a Sega Dreamcast, we’re sure you remember it! It had walls and arrows, and you had to avoid cat-like monsters too. But now that we think about it… why rats and rocket ships?

The Queen’s Gambit was a miniseries that made Chess popular for a little while, and many people found this female-led Chess show a fantastic way to both get entertained and learn a bit more about one of the most recognizable games around the world.

Aside from our selection of games, we know that some of you are avid gamers who want to go beyond the average classic-style puzzle, and we think that some of these well-rated puzzle games for Steam might just be what you’re looking for! We personally recommend It Takes Two if you want to play something higher up the ladder in game production quality while spending time with another person.

So many influential and skilled people are actually avid gamers, from professional MMA fighter Demetrious Johnson to even the rapper Snoop Dogg! And many of them tend to play specific games that continuously hype their attention and make them want to come back every time.

After all, as former North America Nintendo COO Reggie Fils-Aimé said…

“If it’s not fun, why bother?”
